I am a first-time modeler, so this laser-cut wood structure was a challenge. I think the most important lesson learned was this: read all instructions BEFORE starting, and take the time to inventory ALL parts. Of course, I did so. As a result, we now have a realistic model train station to add to our 4-ft X 8ft layout.
I found that a temporary jig was needed to glue the front gable to the rest of the roof. I used some thick foam packing I had saved. I save this stuff in case I need it on my layout. The windows (especially the round ones in the gables...) required a lot of cutting and sanding to make the proper fit. One of the sashes on the front fits so well that it slides up and down like a real window!
I needed very small fingers and hands to install the adhesive-backed shingles, so I enlisted my 8-year old grandson to do this tedious task.
